speech team

Laura Dodd,m.a.,CCC-SLP

I am passionate about helping others develop communication skills to connect with the world around them. I was drawn to the field because communication allows us to express who we are, share ideas, and build meaningful relationships– all of which contribute to a happy and fulfilling life.

My areas of special interest include severe communication disorders, AAC users, childhood apraxia of speech, and gestalt language processors. I believe the first step to a positive therapist–client relationship is establishing connection and trust. I use a client-led approach in therapy, incorporating my clients’ interests to make learning meaningful and self-motivated.

My favorite parts of the job include mentoring motivated speech-language pathologists and empowering families to support their loved one’s communication development. I am grateful for the opportunity to work closely with my clients and their families on their journey!

Dory Burns,B.A.,SLPA

I was drawn to this profession because of the fulfillment I feel working with children, their families, and helping them overcome challenges. The adage “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life” truly encapsulates my experience in this field. The most rewarding aspect of this career is celebrating every win, no matter how big or small.

I’m very passionate about the early-intervention age group, play-based therapy, and working closely with families to support carryover and success at home. I take a child-led approach in therapy, allowing the child’s interests to guide our sessions and using them in the moment to make therapy fun and meaningful.

Additionally, my philosophy centers on a strengths-based, positive mindset. I aim to be a cheerleader and supporter in the life of every client, encouraging them to reach their full potential and find joy while doing it.

Allison schmidt,m.s.,CCC-SLP

I was drawn to the field of speech therapy because I wanted to help people connect with those who matter most in their lives. It’s extremely rewarding to support my clients as they develop the skills and confidence to express themselves in everyday situations. My favorite part of this job is building relationships with my clients and their families each week, as we get to celebrate progress together.

While I love seeing a wide variety of clients, I’m especially passionate about supporting AAC users, gestalt language processors, and autistic communicators. My therapy approach is naturalistic and neurodiversity-affirming. My goal is to build learning opportunities into play and everyday routines, while empowering caregivers and providing them with strategies to support language throughout the week.

Anthony armerino,m.s.,ccc-SLp

I was drawn to the study of how people think, learn, and communicate, and more specifically was inspired by a deep interest in psychology, linguistics, and the broader field of cognitive science. This foundation naturally evolved into a career that blends scientific inquiry with meaningful personal connection. The most rewarding part of this work is witnessing tangible growth—seeing clients reach milestones through their own persistence and determination.

Areas of special interest include social communication, speech sound disorders/phonology and their biological underpinnings related to oral facial myofunctional disorders. Each of these domains highlights the complex, fascinating ways in which communication emerges and develops. In therapy, my guiding philosophy centers on individualized, neuro-affirming care that honors each client’s unique strengths, needs, and lived experiences. Every session is designed to support authentic communication, confidence, and long-term success.

kaitlyn huey,m.s.,ccc-slp

I became a speech-language pathologist because I wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives—and I quickly discovered that the children and adults I work with make just as big of an impact on me. I love building genuine connections and celebrating every moment, no matter how big or small.

In my sessions, I take a fully client-led approach, following each person’s interests, goals, and personality to make therapy meaningful, engaging, and uniquely their own. I believe the best progress happens when people feel seen, supported, and empowered to be themselves.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me exploring new coffee shops or cheering on my favorite sports teams—Go Seattle Kraken!

I chose the field of speech-language pathology because I love helping others gain confidence in their communication. Supporting individuals as they find their voice, whether through speech, signs, or alternative forms of communication is what inspired me to enter this profession. One of my favorite parts of being an SLP is building meaningful relationships with clients and their families, and celebrating the small victories that make a big impact.

I’m passionate about early intervention, expressive and receptive language development, and articulation & phonology. My favorite therapy approach is child-led, play-based intervention, as it allows children to guide the session and creates natural, motivating opportunities for communication and connection.

I believe in meeting each client where they are and using evidence-based strategies that are engaging, functional, and tailored to their unique needs.
